This article creates more questions than it has answers for. According to Edmunds.com, the average rebate was $4,000. They said that 125,000 vehicles out of 690,000 vehicles were vehicles that would not have been sold anyway. This makes a person wonder how effective the CARS program really was. The is no doubt that the auto sales contributed to the economy’s growth and had a trickle down effect for the money being spent. However the real question is, did this really help our economy, or was it more money being needlessly spent, that the American taxpayer ultimately has to pay for.
